Stamp Off Shooting Star Honeybees

Hey stamping friends.  Susan, Buffy and I
are here right on schedule, for another Stamp Off Challenge.

This week we are doing a sketch challenge.  I think
that is our favorite kind of challenge, although I
don't mean to speak for the other lovely ladies!

This is such a difficult time of the year, because
some spectacular sets will retire, including Shooting
Star on page 91.  I got, and love this set because
a number of the sentiments remind me of my Dad,
who passed in 2012.  He used to call his kids honeybees,
 so it is very sentimental.

"As usual", I used the Urban Underground Specialty
Designer Series Paper, which is now long gone.
It worked perfectly with the honeybee theme,
given it's black and Delightful Dijon color combinations.

Layers were created with the Stitched Shapes Framelits
Dies, and Layering Circles Framelits on page 193 of
the current catalog.   Both sets of Framelits will carry
over to the 2017-18 catalog, due out June 1st.

Now please click on over to see the wonderful
sketch challenge projects offered by Miss Buffy
and Miss Susan!  I love those ladies!

Balloon Builder News

This card features Balloon Builder, which is retiring,
on page 60.  I like the balloons in this set because they
look like they have been watercolored.  These balloons
coordinate with the Balloons Bouquet punch on page 187.

Washi Tape Balloon

This is one technique that often forget about,
which can be very frustrating.  It involves applying
Washi Tape to cardstock and then using a framelit
or thinlit to create a colorful, coordinating shape.

In this example, I used the Balloon Bouquet punch
(p 187) with the Playful Palette Designer Washi
Tape on page 179.   I just appreciate having a shape
that coordinates with the strip of color.  The coordinating
thick Emerald Envy Baker's Twine is "good stuff".

The sentiment comes from the Wonderful, and retiring
Birthday Fiesta set on page 11. It is mounted on a Stitched
Shapes Thinlits die.   I'm so glad that I
bought this set because I love it for family.
