4th of July V2

This is my "rejected" 4th of July card.
It "looked right" in my head, but I was not happy with
the outcome, so posted my "real" card yesterday.
These things happen.  Sometimes the mojo doesn't
translate to the project.
I decided to post it anyway, since it still fit the holiday.

Sets:  Age Awareness, page 10,
You've Got This, page 113
Big News, page 100
Other:  Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, page 166
Lucky Stars Embossing Folder, page 174

Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July to you and yours!
For this card, I used a number of Big Shot components:
Balloon Framelits on page 172
Hello You Thinlits on page 172
Lucky Stars Textured Embossing Folder on page 175
Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack on page 166
Brights Sequin Assortment on page 160

All of the white components on this card were made
out of the Whisper White Thick Cardstock on page 149.
The other colors used were Watermelon Wonder
and Night of Navy.
Please have a safe 4th!

Definitely Dahlia

Definitely Dahlia (p 128) is a great background stamp.
All you need is a good sentiment and your card is done.
This sentiment comes from the Birthday Blossoms
set on page 8.  I really like the Blushing Bride-
Basic Black color combo, so here you go!

WCC27 Iris Twist Watercooler Challenge

http://watercoolerchallenges.blogspot.ca/
Yippee Skippee, it's time for another Watercooler Challenge!
Today is MY technique challenge. This technique is known
by several names, including Iris Twist, but I think the
Watercooler ladies may have felt it was more of
a "Twisted Challenge!"

It was a bit harder than it looked!
In the sample above, the top photo shows how strips
or triangles of card stock are layered on a
a punched image.  The bottom shows the completed card.

For my iris opening, I used the
Balloons Framelits on page 172.  I felt the concept of
a hot air balloon was perfect for this challenge.
I first embossed the background with the Boho Chic
Embossing Folder (love love) on page 174.  I also
embossed strips of Always Artichoke, Blackberry Bliss
and Perfect Plum.  Those strips were then layered,
from the back side of the balloon, to form the twisted pattern.
The sentiment from the Project Life Remember This
set was then added between layers to complete
the twisted balloon.
This is a great way to use up paper scraps.
Were I to do this technique again, I would omit
the sentiment from the center and place it elsewhere
on the cards, as some of the other Watercooler
ladies have done.
Please join our challenge by entering your twisted project!
