Empty Nest with Swirly Scribbles and Chase Dreams

This summer, a significant number of friends
had children who graduated from high school.
It's hard to imagine, given that we are "so young".
But really, I knew these people before they ever had
children!!

That got me thinking about the "empty nest" syndrome
that many friends are going through, and led to this card.
The "nest" is made out of the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits
on page 220.  I created the feathers and sentiment with
Chase Your Dreams Framelits on page 216.  I doubled
up the "dream" sentiment to make it stand out.
The only ink used on this card was sponging
around the edges.   The colors include Soft Sea Foam,
Tranquil Tide, So Saffron, Crumb Cake and Soft Suede.

Painted Harvest with Flourishing Phrases

Sometimes, I take a fresh look at sets on my shelf and think
about how I can combine them.  In this example, I paired
Painted Harvest on page 139 with the sentiment from
Flourishing Phrases (page 18).  The ferns are stamped in
Soft Sea Foam and Mossy Meadow.  I added a little
Blackberry Bliss to finish out the color combo.
It makes a perfect sympathy card.

Waterfront Cabin

The Waterfront photopolymer set, on page 149 is
kind of an enigma. I you use it to create a crisp clean and
simple card, or one that is sponged and somewhat "shabby".
It has some great sentiments, that are easy to line up.

This sample is kind of "different", because of the dark
colors used.  I thought that Cajun Craze and Mossy Meadow
would be a rich, interesting color combination.
Given the tearing, this card comes off as a bit shabby.
