Christmas Starburst

The STARBURST technique is very popular.
Below, is a card using this technique,
followed by picture directions.
I based my directions on those of
Dawn Olchefske, at DOstamping.

The Winter Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) on p 29
in the Holiday Mini is delicious.  Although not "traditional"
Christmas colors, they offer a festive alternative.

I used the Christmas Messages set on page 34,
stamped in Smoky Slate, to
accompany this Starburst technique card.

Please see the picture directions below.

1.  Cut 3 rectangles out of coordinating DSP,
 1 1/2 by 4 inches each.
Cut all 3 rectangles in half diagonally.

  2.  Cut out a scrap piece of cardstock measuring 3 1/2 by 3 3/4.
Find and mark the middle of the 3 3/4 inch side.

3.  Lay out your "pennant pieces" as you want them
to be arranged on your starburst.
Take the piece that will be placed in the
middle/center of your starburst and position
it so that the straight edge at the 90º angle (point down)
is on the center line.

4.  Add the other 5 pieces, "snugging them up" against
the first on either side, to form your starburst array.
There will be white spaces remaining in the lower
right and left corners.

 5.  From the back, you can see how the DSP pennants
hang over the cardstock base.  Using a scissors, trim
the overhanging portions AND SAVE the largest ones.

6.  After trimming your DSP, take the 2 largest pieces
and glue them to the cardstock base, filling in the
remaining white space.  Turn the panel over and trim
off the excess DSP, so that you have a
3 1/2 by 3 3/4 starburst design.  Mount it on a
vertically oriented card base and decorate as desired.
