Wacky Watercooler March Madness Blog Hop!

Welcome to another wonderful Wacky Watercooler Hop.

A group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators join together,
hoping to inspire you with fun crafting ideas and themes.
This is our March Madness hop, featuring Special Folds.
If you are following the hop line-up, this is the first blog.

This is a circular hop, so you can start anywhere.
You may also be arriving from viewing Christine's
wonderful projects at dancinstamps.

Sadly, I haven't been able to track down the inspiration
for my card above.  I believe that it was a SU demonstrator from
the UK or Australia.

I love the SAB Flowering Fields set and coordinating
Wildflower Fields DSP on page 12 of the SAB brochure.
For this project, I stamped the various flowers and colored
with colors from the DSP pack.  I highlighted the
Hello Honey areas with the Gold Wink of Stella Glitter Brush.

The fold was achieved by folding a piece of card stock
and placing it in the largest framelit of the Ovals Collection
Framelits (on page 173), positioning it so that the fold was
not cut through. The oval with the images was attached to that, so that all of the scallops around the edge would be complete.

This combination was fit to the front of the card.
I had to make the card slightly narrower (4"), so that the
scalloped edge could swing past the outside edge of the card.
(Sorry if this makes no sense.  I really did this seat-of-my-pants).
It is set up so that the event/sentiment can be added inside this fold.

My second card was inspired by http://agnieszka-scrappassion.blogspot.com.
I used the Timeless Elegance DSP (p 143) to decorate a 4x4
card that opens at the bottom.  The insert pulls out via
the 5/8" Gold Satin ribbon tab.  I used a gold brad to hold the fold
in place, because 3 layers made it very hard to bend and
fasten with adhesive.   More 5/8" Gold Satin ribbon (p 159)
was used to form a bow around the project, with an Antique Brad
(p 160) attached.

It's hard to tell, but I did cut out extra flowers and layer
them on the card insert, to give it more dimension.
I think that this would a neat format to use to make place cards,
with the insert containing the menu for the event.

This is another card featuring the Wildflower Fields DSP
on page 12.  I used the banner from the Circle Card Thinlits
as a layer for the sentiment, and the card closure.
Pretty quick card, with a brad holding it closed.
Thank you for looking at my offerings!

January Wacky Watercooler Mini Hop #2

http://wackywatercoolerstamping.blogspot.com
Welcome to the second Wacky Watercooler hop this month!
We're starting January 2016 off with a bang.  There is just
so much "stampin goodness" in the new Occasions and
SAB Minis, that we had lots of projects to show off!

If you're following the blog circuit,
then you've likely arrived from Marsha's site.
I bet that you enjoyed her lovely projects.
http://www.coffeepotstampingcafe.com/

If you missed them, then hop on back for a look.

My first project uses the very sweet A Nice Cuppa set with
coordinating Cups and Kettle Framelit Dies,
on page 34-35 of the Occasions Mini. For the table,
I inked up the Hardwood
stamp on page 128 with Soft Suede ink and stamped it on the
same color paper.  The legs were cut out with Handpicked
Framelits on page 174.  The Mint Macaron 1" Dotted Lace Trim
made a nice little table runner.  The Pink Pirouette card base
was embossed with the Elegant Dots Folder on page 174.

My second card used stamps from Timeless Textures
and In the Meadow (p 28 of the Occasions Mini).
Can you see where I've used the Timeless Textures????
First, I sponged Hello Honey and Only Olive ink on a
WW Lots of Layer card stock piece.  Then, I spritzed water
on the stamp from the Timeless Textures.  I wiped the edges
of the stamp to minimize huge drips, and then stamped it
on the sponged layer.  I repeated until I had little dots (and a few big drips) of water over my layer and let them dry.
My goal was to mimic the dots on the back of the fawn.
Finally, I stamped the image from In the Meadow.

I also inked up my Boho Chic embossing folder before
sending that layer through the Big Shot.

I thank you for checking out my samples.
Now please hop on over to see Kath's wonderful
projects.  We're so happy to have so many talented artists!

WWC51 CAS Star Challenge

http://watercoolerchallenges.blogspot.ca/

Thank you for stopping by

Today we are featuring Bev's WWC51 CAS Star Challenge.
Stampin' Up! offers numerous star related products,
so there are lots of options.

I realize that this card has some extra layers, but I figured my nephew will appreciate the many colors, so I went with a more layered approach.
From the beginning, I wanted to use the "leftover Hooray" letters from the Party Pop-Up Thinlits Dies (on page 7 of the Occasions Mini) for his accomplishment. They fit perfectly on a star created with the Stars Framelits on page 173.  I backed the Tangelo Twist star with one in Basic Black to really make it pop.  The stars on the WW c/s layer were
applied with the Hearts & Stars Decorative Masks
and Sponge Daubers.  The "congratulations" sentiment
comes from the Big News set on page 100.
Please check out the projects offered by the
 Watercooler Wednesday artists.

WWC50 Paper Pieced Butterfly

http://watercoolerchallenges.blogspot.ca/
This week is Jean's Quilt Style Paper Piecing Challenge WWC50.

Jean offered a lovely sample photo, showing
a number of different approaches to this challenge.

I felt that a butterfly would be a lovely quilted piece, so used the
Bold Butterfly Framelits on page 172 and
the Wildflower Fields DSP paper on page 12 of the SAB
brochure.  This DSP is wonderful, especially given that
it is FREE!   The sentiment comes from Butterfly Basics set
on page 124.  I wanted to add more texture, so embossed the
Blackberry Bliss layer with the Boho Chic Textured
Embossing Folder.

Now please head for the Watercooler Wednesday
Challenge site and add your interpretation!

Wacky Watercooler Mini Blog Hop#1

Welcome!  You have likely arrived at this
Wacky Watercooler Blog hop site after viewing Marie's
wonderful projects.  I know that you enjoyed them
because Marie is wonderfully talented!
If you want to hop back and take a look, click below.
http://mytanglewoodcottage.blogspot.com/
Since this hop is circular, you can start anywhere and hop
until you've viewed all of the artists.

First, my serious card.  I have a bunch of nephews and
brother-in-laws, so am always in need of masculine birthday cards.
The Number of Years set, with coordinating Large Numbers
Framelits (page 10-11 of the 2016 Occasions mini)
is a great set for boys or girls.

This was a very quick and easy card, with stamping and layering
of the elements.  I added a Lots of Labels Framelit layer (p173),
embossed with the Boho Chic Textured Embossing Folder
on page 174. Now I'm ready for my nephew's B-Day!

I affectionately call this my "crazy chick" card.  I have to
admit that the first time I looked at the SAB catalog and saw the "Honeycomb Happiness" set on page 15, this
idea popped into my head.  You know how you have friends
who have a series of tough breaks or difficult situations.
I was happy to see the "Oh, Hello" greeting because I knew
I could omit the "o" for a "different" sentiment. The raindrop
paper reminded me of tears.   Yes, my thought process
is twisted.

Please take note, the DSP on this card is the FREE
(with $50 product purchase) Wildflower Fields pack. Lovely paper!

So now that you've seen my projects, please hop forward
to see Buffy's delightful offerings.  She is an amazing artist.

WWC49-Jackie's Sketch Challenge

http://watercoolerchallenges.blogspot.ca/

Yippee-Skippee, the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge is back!
I'm excited because today is my sketch challenge, but also
because you will be seeing new Occasions 2016 and SAB product.

For my challenge, I've created a pretty straight forward layer card
using coordinating product from the Occasions 2016 Mini Catalog.

This card uses the Balloon Builders Stamp set (Occasions p 14),
with the coordinating Balloon Bouquet Punch (p 13)
It's My Party DSP paper stack (Occasions p 5) and
my favorite Tin of Cards set on p 110 of the annual catalog.
I really like the Balloon Builders set because of it's
flexibility, and watercolor look.
This is a birthday card that works for guys or girls,
and comes together quickly.

Please click on over to the Wednesday Watercooler Challenge site,
and join us for this sketch challenge.  Make a card and
link it up to our Linky!

WWC47 Marsha's Color Challenge

http://watercoolerchallenges.blogspot.ca/
Welcome back to the Watercoolr Wednesday Challenge.
Today is Marsha's lovely Blue-Gray Color Challenge.

This color range works for Christmas, masculine or
any other event.  It really speaks to many themes.

The color palette for my card is Soft Sky, Marina Mist,
Smoky Slate and Night of Navy.  I used Smoky Slate
and Night of Navy for the card base and layers.

The sets used included Chalk Lines (p 123),
You've Got This (p113) and Butterfly Basics (p 124).
They are all great collage sets and work really well together.

Please head over to the Watercooler and give
this Challenge a try!

WWC46 Jean's Masculine Challenge

http://watercoolerchallenges.blogspot.ca/
Watercooler Wednesday sure does roll around fast,
doesn't it.  This week, Jean has provided a cool challenge;
a CAS Masculine challenge.
I have 5 nephews and we all know that it can be
difficult to come up with designs for a masculine card.
So get out there and start creating!

I'm not a huge Stars Wars fan, but seem to have been affected
by all of the hype and trailers.  I just could not get this card
out of my head, especially knowing that my nephews
would "get" candy canes that become light sabers.

The Snow Place set with Snow Friends Framelits (Holiday catty)
made it easy to design a duel, with parts and pieces flying.
I used the Alphabet Rotary Stamp (page 132) to
create the novel sentiment and punched it out with the
Washi Label Punch.

So now that you have been "inspired",  jump on over to the
Watercooler Challenge site to link up your entry for
Jean's challenge.

WWC45: Susan's Sketch Challenge

http://watercoolerchallenges.blogspot.ca/
Today we have Susan's lovely sketch challenge.
I like this challenge because you can go
in so many different directions with it.
I opted to go in the "Snowman direction".

I love the Snow Place Bundle on page 33 of the
Holiday Mini because all the bits and pieces enable
a range of snowmen or card components.
The "Joy" sentiment comes from the Wonderful Wreath
Framelits on page 172 of the main catalog.  This set of
Framelits coordinates with the Wondrous Wreath set on page 72.

I didn't put in the horizontal strips shown in the
sketch photo, because I felt that the Burlap Ribbon (p158)
makes such a nice, strong statement by itself.

WWC44: Anything Goes With Weddings

http://watercoolerchallenges.blogspot.ca/

This one is fun because we often get into a jam
when we need a wedding or anniversary card.
Now you can join our challenge and have a card ready!

I made an anniversary card because I consistently
forget those family events.  Then I scramble to make
an anniversary card and get it in the mail.

I wanted kind of a formal, elegant card so I used
Black Glimmer paper (p 47 of Holiday Mini),
Red Foil Sheets (p 26 of HM) and Fancy Foil Designer
Vellum on page 149 of the regular catty.  The sentiment
comes from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set on page 95.
The "happy" foil was made with the Hello You Thinlits
on page 172.

WWC42 Bev's Inspiration Challenge

http://watercoolerchallenges.blogspot.ca/
Aren't Wednesdays wonderful?!
Half way through the week, plus the Watercooler Challenge.

This week is Bev's Inspiration Challenge.
To be honest, Inspiration Challenges are a challenge for me.
I guess I get crazy trying to figure out whether to
use the colors, forms, sketch or what.
For my project, I attempted to mimic the concept
of pillows across a couch.  I embossed the pattern from
the smallest leaf in the Lighthearted Leaves set (on page
44 of the Holiday Mini) on squares of c/s that corresponded
with the colors in the inspiration photo.  I tried silver embossing
powder to correspond with the silver lighting, but
liked gold better.  I always think of laying on the couch
as "chilling", so used the sentiment from the
Snow Place set on page 33.
The couch "material" is made out of a layer of
Timeless Elegance Designer Series Paper (p 143).

So please add your interpretation of this challenge to
our linky on the Watercooler Challenge site.

WWC41 Sketch Challenge

http://watercoolerchallenges.blogspot.ca/
Happily, today is my Watercooler Wednesday sketch challenge.

Here is the sketch.  You can use card stock or DSP for the
layers, so have fun and please join us.

Lately I've been really "digging" deep, rich Christmas cards.
I think it's because this sponging technique looks best
with deep colors that allow water drops to disperse to reveal
white "snowflakes".   The Elegant Dots Textured
Embossing Folder (p 174) makes any background look
more interesting.

In this example, I used the Happy Scenes set on page 11
of the Holiday mini to create the focal image and sentiment.
The Burlap Ribbon (p 158) just lifts everything.

So please check out our Watercooler site and join
us for this sketch challenge.

WWC40 Holly Challenge

http://watercoolerchallenges.blogspot.ca/
Hey Watercooler Wednesday Fans, we're back!

This week is Heidi's "Anything Goes with Holly" Challenge!

I have a very limited holly stamp supply, so had to figure out
how to feature a small stamp.  I love stamped doors,
so the decision became how to make an opening to
feature the holly.  This is basically the shape of my
front door, so it became a no-brainer.

The quintessential stamp for creating doors is the
Hardwood stamp on page 128.  I love this stamp because
it makes the process so easy.  I cut the door opening
with a circle framelit, masking part so that it was not cut out.

The little holly stamp and sentiment came from the
Snow Place set on page 33.  The cucumber crush really
sets off the door.

Now hop on over to the Watercooler Challenge
to see what the other ladies have contributed!
