April Wacky Watercooler Hop

Time for another Wacky Watercooler Hop!
Don't you love it!

You have likely arrived from Stephanie's blog.
She presented such a wonderful projects!
If you want to back up, click this button to go backwards.
http://www.kathesadventure.blogspot.ca/

So... there are lots of samples using the Circle Treat Cups
(p 160) to hold snacks.  I pulled mine out but didn't
have M&Ms (if I did, they'd be eaten before they made
it to the treat cup!).  I kept looking at it and thought that
it would make a perfect straw hat.  My Dad liked to wear straw
hats, so this is kind of a tribute to him.   These hats can't
be put in the mail, but they sure are addictive to make!

I messed with the 1-1/4 inch Burlap Ribbon on
page 37 of the Celebrations Mini.  I could lay a 3"
strip across the top of the hat, but had uncovered spots
on either side.  I ended up adding small pieces of the
Burlap Ribbon and the top of the straw hat was complete.
(Note:  You need to use Sticky Strip adhesive)
For the brim, I just cut 2 circles of Crumb Cake,
using the 3" Bigz Circle Die.
Punch a 1-3/4" circle out of 1 of the Crumb Cake
pieces.  Run them both through a Square Lattice
Embossing Folder, inked with VersaMark on both sides,
(to give a textured straw-hat look) and you
have a dandy straw hat.  Insert the treat cup through
the 1-3/4" hole and glue the 2 Crumb Cake circles together.
I added some 3/8" Raspberry Ripple Ribbon around the
crown of the hat, to camouflage some of the adhesive.
The "look" was completed with flowers, punched
out with the Boho Blossoms punch (p 183),

You could also adhere natural trim ribbon, or
washi tape around the straw hat crown, to
change it up or make it more masculine.

Please look for more samples of "straw hats" in
my upcoming posts!

My second concept is a penny spinner card.
You don't have to make it a spinner card,
as you can simply glue the butterfly in place.
The surprise is that it uses the "throw-away" portion of
the Spiral Flower Originals Die (p 32 in the Occasions).
The inner portion of the spiral is covered with
a 3 inch circle of DSP or card stock,
cut with the 3" Bigz Circle Die.

I used the sentiment from the Kind & Cozy set
to complete the card.
The DSP used came from the This and That Epic Day pack.

Thank you so much for stopping by jackotterstamp,
to see my hop projects.

Now hop to the next blog, to see Debbie's delightful creations.
You don't want to miss her little bees, either!

Bring On The Cake Meets Soho Subway

This is another masculine project, thanks to the
Soho Subway DSP.  The bold, graphic designs are
perfect for guys.
I will mention that this example presents the images
on Whisper White card stock.  I redid the card with
Very Vanilla c/s, but did not take more pictures.
Set:  Bring on the Cake
Colors:  Very Vanilla, Early Espresso,
Soho Subway DSP
Other:  Thinlits Label Card
I extended the paper length (4" by 8"), so that I
could fold the card stock over to form
a gift card holder.  The other option is to use
the folded panel for your personal message.

Chalk Talk Alphabet

This is one of my favorite cards featuring the
Chalk Talk Framelits.  This framelit collection
enables so many neat combinations, including the
ability to nest one framelit inside another,
producing frames for your images.
They also layer on top of one another, producing very
pleasing results!

Set:  Occasions Alphabet

Colors:  Whisper White, Basic Black,
Daffodil Delight, Real Red

Other:  Chalk Talk Framelits, Candy Dots
Baker's Twine, Beautifully Baroque Embossing Folder

Open Sleigh Apothecary Dresser

I will have to admit that I am proud of
this little dresser.  It is made out of "leftovers"
from a previously posted project (Christmas door).

The Old Olive panels were scored 1/4 inch from each
edge on the Simply Scored, to give them a raised look.
The panels were sponged and then mounted on a
sponged Old Olive layer with dimensionals.

The Ornament Keepsakes Bundle was used to make the
ball feet and drawer pulls.  The drawer pulls were then
mounted and coated with Crystal Effects.

The Brushed Gold card stock branches were punched
using the Bird Builder Punch.

The stocking from Open Sleigh was stamped in
Cherry Cobbler and hand cut.

The back of the dresser is a piece cut with the
Apothecary Framelit set, pierced and sponged.

The dresser was layered on to a piece of Candlelight
Christmas Specialty DSP, which was then mounted on
the Cherry Cobbler Card Base.

Llama Colors of Spring Blog Hop

WELCOME to the Colors of Spring
Llama Blog Hop!
You probably have just gotten a
look at Darrah's wonderful samples at
www.darrah.stampinup.net/blog
If not, you can click the link above,
or icon below to check out her Colors of Spring ideas.

********************

My FAVORITE SU product is the Big Shot,
with the Framelits the best accessory ever!
Cristy Butzen developed this technique for using
the Labels Collection Framelits (page 6 of the
Occasions Mini), to make a kind of a flip-flop card.

Below are pictures of the card opening, and the
back of this project.

Sets:  Easy Events
Colors:  More Mustard, Pear Pizzaz,
Poppy Parade, Very Vanilla, black Stazon
Accessories:  Labels Collection Framelits,
Lace Ribbon Border Punch, Itty Bitty Shapes
Punch Pack, Pearls, Square Lattice EF

If you don't own a Big Shot, the
Lace Ribbon Border Punch is a nice way
to add texture to a card or scrapbook project.

***********************

This card uses several more In-colors that
are retiring in June; Concord Crush,  Peach Parfait
and Pear Pizzazz on a Crumb Cake card base.

The stamp set,  Best of Everything,
can be found on page 103 of the regular catalog.

Accessories:  Scallop Border Punch, Pear Pizzazz
Ribbon, Big Shot Lots of Tags Sizzlits Die,
Circle Punches, Linen Thread, Versa Mark.

***************************

This final project uses the retiring In-Color
Blushing Bride with the Field Flowers set.
The Big Shot Finial Press Embossing Folder created
texture on the card base.  The Lace Ribbon
Border Punch strip was run through the Square Lattice
Folder to create additional texture.
For some reason, I ALWAYS have to place
3 rhinestones under that leaf.  Don't ask me why,
it's just not done until they're in position!

Now hop on ahead to see Joanne's beautiful projects!

Pool Party Pillow Box

This is a little birthday treat made with the Big Shot
Pillow Box die (p 223 in the catty).
The Pool Party box was texturized with an Embossing Folder.
The box goes together very quickly, with a piece of
sticky strip along one flap. The ends stay together on their own.

A strip of Flirtations DSP was wrapped around the box.
The sentiment, from the Sweet Cake set in the
Occasions Mini was stamped on a tag from the Big Shot
"Lots of Tags" set and  fastened to the DSP with
a large brad.

why would I put a bow on the package when I could make
a pop can gift card!!

This project uses retired Gable Green Card Stock,
Retired Designer Series Paper and a
Mountain Dew pop can.  A retired
 gray corduroy button was used.

Please take note, you can still get these

Petal Cone Ice Cream Cone

As I've said before, the Petal Cone Big Shot Die is one of my favorites!
In this example, I've used one portion of the die to form the Crumb Cake cone.  It was run
through the Textile Embossing Folder to give it the "cone" texture.
The Melon Mambo banner is another section of the Petal Cone die.
The Melon Mambo and Chocolate Chip ice cream "scoops" are the
decorative scallop from the die and were run through the
Elegant Lines Embossing Folder.

A Springtime Vintage button was added to one end of the
banner, a neutrals brad to the other.

Springtime Vintage Fabric Fun Flowers

The Springtime Vintage Fabric is just delicious and works
so well with the Big Shot dies.

In this example, based on SU samples, I used the Fun Flowers
big shot die to cut 2 layers of the fabric and 1 of
Always Artichoke.  The fabric was sprayed with Spray Starch
and "scrunched" in a paper towel. I sprayed too much,
so be stingy with your starch.  It took a while for
the fabric to dry.

A loop of Rose Red seam binding was looped and
attached to River Rock card stock that had
been run through the Big Shot Finial Press
Embossing Folder and then
the card stock and (dried) fabric flowers were layered.
I threaded linen thread thru a Springtime Vintage
Designer button and attached.

The sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes was stamped
on Whisper White Card stock and punched with the
Modern Label Punch.  Pearls were added,
cause Pearls should ALWAYS be added!
