Magnolia Lane Stamp Off Challenge

Today is our Stamp Off Challenge!

Susan, Buffy and I do a little blog hop every other

Friday.  Today, our challenge is to use two different

Designer Series Papers (DSP) together on a card.

This challenge was a no-brainer for me.  The Magnolia

Lane DSP on page 165 is perfect for showcasing several

sheets on the same project.  This DSP also makes it quick

work to create an elegant card.

Most of my elements for this card came from the Magnolia

Lane suite, including the DSP, stamped sentiment and leaves.

The layer with the sentiment was cut out with a die from

the Smooth Sailing dies on page 195.  This die is extremely

useful because of it's shape and size.  Love it!

Inspiring Iris on Gingham

I am trying to buy a variety of sets, so was excited to

stamp with my friends Jo and Mary, because I could try

out some of their sets.  Inspiring Iris (p 111) is a set that I

have looked at numerous times, but wasn't sure that I 

had to have.  After playing with it, I'm kind of moving

in the direction of "I NEED this set!

For this card, I stamped the flower outline with Poppy Parade,

the flower interior in Flirty Flamingo and stems in Pear Pizzazz.

I added a layer of Gingham from the Subtles 6x6 

Designer Series Paper (page 163 and 168) and a bit of

Linen Thread (page 173) to finish it off.

Back on Your Feet with

If you ask any crafter, most will say that they are creatively

inspired when they get new "rubbah".  It is a blast to pull

out a new stamp set and see what you can make out of it.

Often, I start with a really simple layout like this one

using a strip of DSP and coordinate the image colors

back to the DSP.

In this example, I used the Back on Your Feet stamp set on 

page 83.   I colored it with Stampin' Blends, found

on page 179 (Night of Navy,

Smoky Slate, Crumb Cake and Mossy Meadow).  

The Designer Series used to color coordinate

this card is See A Silhouette on page 166.  I love the

colors and unique patterns of this DSP.

I needed this project, for a family member who

had a surgical procedure, followed by a complication.

I wish him the very best and hope that he is finally

on a road to full recovery!

Smooth Sailing Dies with Tropical Chic

I really appreciate the variety of masculine sets and dies

in the 2019-20 Stamping' Up! catalog.  I have many

guys in my family, to create cards for.  The ability to

stack dies enables creation of cards that are interesting,

full of texture and relatively quick to put together,

once the shapes are cut out.

For this project, I used dies from Smooth Sailing (p 195)

and the sentiment from Tropical Chic (p 93).

I ran the Gray Granite layer through the Subtles 3D

Embossing folder and then highlighted it with 

VersaMark ink.  The rest of the colors included Pool Party,

Soft Sea Foam and Garden Green.

Geared Up Sailing Home Peacock

This is not a traditional 4th of July card, but I liked

this combination of stamp sets, with the sentiment.

I took the sentiment from  Sailing Home (p 146),  

and cut it out with the coordinating

Smooth Sailing Dies.  For the background, I used 

smoke from Geared Up Garage

(p 154) and feathers from Royal Peacock (p 26).

The feather-smoke combination works well to
set off the sentiment.  To add to this card, 
 the feathers could be glittered,  to make them look sparkly.

Well Written Dies

Happy July!  It's a tad warmer than I like, but

at least we haven't had any Tornados since Memorial Day.

I am overjoyed that the Well Written dies (p 197) carried over

to the new 2019-20 catalog.  This set of dies fits so many

occasions with ease.  

I ran the whisper white layer through

the Lace 3D Embossing Folder and cut out an oval with

the Stitched Shapes dies ( p 196).
